Saturday 9/1

Happy September! Weather wasn’t the greatest Friday so we didn’t hear much. More NE winds (No Flies!) Saturday but it’s looking like calmer winds as the day goes on and Sunday/Monday look good. We have everything you need! Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day weekend. Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

Thursday 8/30

Read yesterday report because nothing has really changed! Fluking was a bit better Wednesday. Lots of fluke right in the wash. Hearing of lots of mullet in the back so lets hope for a good mullet season. Weather for Thursday is warm with light winds. Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

Wednesday 8/29

This heat means business! Was a tad cooler on the beach but still brutal. We had some Fluke and Blues reported along the beach. Hearing of more sharks and rays at night which is encouraging. All Brown Sharks. Water temps are like bath water right now. Boat Fluking is very good right now. We got in more 6″ Grubs in all the popular colors including PINK SHINE! Sorry no Salmon Red! Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY

Tuesday 8/28

Blues and Fluke! The bluefish have been ranging in the 1-3LB range but we’re starting to hear of a few bigger ones in the mix. Both Metal and Bait are working. The Hogy Epoxy Jig has been very productive and we just got a mess of them in including the HOT Pink color. Match the hatch! Small bait in the area so fish small metals. The fluking was good as well. Been a very good fluking season this year.. It started early and with the mullet season upon us it will only continue. Speaking of mullet they’re starting to stage in the back bay. Had a few guys tell me that the lagoons were loaded. Lets hope for a good start to the fall! Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

Sunday 8/26

Same report! Good Fluke and small Blues along the beach. The sharking even bounced back the past couple days. Heard of a decent amount of them in the dark. All Browns. Crabbing is good but lots of small ones. Snapper blues are all over the local docks. Hearing of a lot of bait in the back including mullet. Lets hope for a good mullet run because last year was brutal. The good weather looks to continue into Sunday! Weather was a 10 Saturday. We have everything you need! Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

TGIF! 8/24 NEW ODM’s!!!!

Good Fluking once again. Lots of fish but the keeper ratio isn’t the best outside of IBSP. If you fish IBSP it’s a lot easier to take something home with the 16″ size limit. Heard of some cocktail blues on small pieces of Bunker and Mullet. Also hearing of some small bass on metal and small plastics. There’s a variety of species to target in the area and the weather looks fantastic this weekend. We’re loaded up on bait.
NEW PRODUCT ALERT! The NEW ODM D.N.A Surf rod has arrived in Grumpys Tackle and is now on the floor! This rod comes in sizes 9′, 10′, and 11′. Priced $249.99 to $299.99 depending on size. The hype is real with this rod. This is a premium surf rod that doesn’t cost $500. Already sold a few so come check them out before they’re gone. Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

Thursday 8/23 Lots of Fluke! Stocked up on GULP!

Lots of Fluke Wednesday. Most of the fish we heard of came from IBSP but all the local beaches are producing. We had some nice fish hit the scale. Check the weigh-in section for photos! Some guys had some crazy quantities of fish but the keeper ratio wasn’t the greatest. I’ve said it before but the anglers using the bigger Gulps are catching the bigger fish. Not as many but bigger! Speaking of bigger Gulps we got in a load of the hard to get 6″ Grubs in all the popular colors (NO Salmon RED!)… When fishing the grubs you need a bigger hook such as a 5/0 Gami bait holder. If you don’t want to tie them yourself we have an awesome Bucktail gulp rig tied by Bob Bott of Backlash sportfishing. Just ask our staff! We also had some Bluefish reported up and down on both metal and bait. Blowfishing in the bay is starting to get very good. Good reports came off the local docks on small pieces of clam. Crabbing in the bay is good but lots of small ones which is expected for this time of the year. Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!!!

Wednesday 8/22

Good fluking along the beach Tuesday. Talked to several anglers that did very well just walking the beach and throwing Gulp and Bucktails. Problem was not many keepers but we did weigh-in a beautiful 23″ 4.85 LB Fluke caught by Tom Spiller. Photo is in the weigh-in section above. Did hear of some small blues on epoxy jigs and metal. Few guys did good on bait. Bonito were just out of casting distance.

Tuesday 8/21

About the same report. Cocktail Bluefish reported up and down. Both bait and metal are working. There’s also some bonito and mackerel mixed in with them. Fluking was ok Monday nothing special. Finally hearing of some good blowfish in the bay and that should only continue. Crabbing in the bay is good but lots of small ones.
We got some orders Monday. Monster order of the HOGY Epoxy Jigs (Hottest lure on the beach right now), Tsunami Slow-pitch and Slimwave jigging fluke rods, St Croix Surf and Boat rods including the NEW Mojo Yak rods, and more Gulp! Orders are arriving daily and more is expected this week. Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!
