9/10 Better Reports again!

Not a ton of anglers out but we did get some really solid reports especially in the evening from the surf. Both Bluefish (2-4#) and small bass (under 24″) were reported on artificials. Even had a regular report some action on poppers! The mullet run is on and the fishing is starting to get better. The weather looks pretty good going forward. We have plenty of Fresh Mullet, Fresh Bunker, and Salted Clams.

9/9 Mullet Run is kicking in!

We’re bagging them as we speak! The mullet run is officially on in our area and Sunday was the best day so far. We have plenty of Fresh Mullet if you want to fish bait this week. There was some small blues chasing them and we know there’s a few bass around now too. Work the beaches in the early morning or evening hours and throw anything that will imitate a mullet. Match the hatch! Small Swimmers, Small polaris style poppers, Mag Darters, Scabelly Gliders, SP’s to name a few. Everyone has their favorite lure this time of the year. There’s also still bonito and spanish mackerel around but attention has turned to the albies that are now in the area. It’s not secret what lures works the best for them. Look no further than the Hogy Jigs and Joe Baggs Resin Jigs. Speaking of Hogy Lures we added in a bunch of new stuff from them. Fully loaded now!

Don’t forget this Saturday September 14th is St. Croix Rod Demo Day at the shop! Come cast the new line-up of St. Croix Surf Rods. This event is always a great time. It’ll be held on the park lawn from 10am-1pm in front of the shop. No need to sign-up just show up!

9/5 Albies are starting to show locally!

We finally got some reports of Albies locally off the beach the past couple days. Nothing consistent yet but they’re starting to trickle into the area. There’s also been a decent amount of Spanish Mackerel and Bonito around chasing small bait in the inlets. We also heard of more Bluefish on the beach. Anglers fishing Mullet and Bunker have been picking away at them. If you want to throw artificials look no further than the Hogy and Joe Baggs Jigs. (We got in boxes of Hogy Lures yesterday. New  stuff added too!)There’s also some Fluke around. Shell E. weighed in a couple keepers Wednesday from IBSP. The Mullet run is slowly starting. We received a small amount of them Tuesday. The conditions have been pretty good but the swell from Hurricane Dorian will be felt the end of the week which could make condition tough as we head into the weekend.. Right now the conditions are good and there’s some fish around.

On Saturday September 14th from 10am-1pm we’ll be having St. Croix Rod Demo Day here at the shop. It’ll be on the park lawn in front of the shop. If you come you’ll be able to throw all the new Surf Rods from St. Croix! No need to sign-up just show up!

9/3 Happy September!

September is here! This can be a very fun month especially with the Albies. Currently we have a lot of small to medium size Bluefish and lots of bonito around. The Hogy Epoxy Jig and the Joe Baggs Resin have been your best bet.. The fluking is so-so but the conditions haven’t been the best for them the past few days. The Mullet run should begin any day now and that should increase the activity in the area. If you want to work the beaches at night we are hearing of some small resident bass in the area. There’s also a decent amount of small bass in the back. Cooler nights should get everything going soon.

On Saturday September 14th from 10am-1pm we’ll be having St. Croix Rod Demo Day here at the shop. It’ll be on the park lawn in front of the shop. If you come you’ll be able to throw all the new Surf Rods from St. Croix! No need to sign-up just show up!
