4/21 Sunday– Happy Easter!

We had the ODM demo on Saturday and it was a huge success. We want to thank Steve and the ODM team for coming out and showing our customers the full line up of surf rods. Our customers were blown away! Before the rod demo Steve from ODM dropped off a monster order of DNA Surf Rods (Top Seller) and plugs bags! We have plenty of the HOT 3.5 and 2.5 Plug bags in stock. We also have the full line-up of ODM Genesis, Frontier-X, and Jigster Xtreme Surf Rods in stock. Any questions about their products don’t be afraid to ask!

Fishing Report— The conditions were horrible Saturday morning so didn’t hear much in the morning. We sent a lot of guys out Saturday afternoon once the weather cleared… Nothing was reported from the surf due to the tough conditions but we did get more reports locally in the bay. Wind looks a whole lot better for Easter Sunday and it looks like a pretty nice day. We’ll be open normal business hours Sunday 430am-10pm and we have all the bait you need if you want to head out before Brunch or after dinner!

From all of us at Grumpys, Happy Easter!

4/19 Friday– ODM ROD DEMO DAY SATURDAY 1pm-4pm.

The ODM Rod Demo Day on Saturday has been delayed to a 1pm start time due to the crummy weather Saturday morning. Looks like it’s going to clear up for the afternoon so we’re going to have it 1pm-4pm. Come cast some of the best surf rods on the market. We’ll have the full line-up of rods to cast. We hope to see everyone at the shop!

We got more good reports on Thursday. Mostly from the bay. We did hear a few on the surf but the conditions were tough. The bay is just loaded with small bass. Kettle Creek Shads, SP’s, Mag Darters, and Gliders are the heavy hitters. Speaking of gliders we still have some Scabelly mini-gliders in stock. They won’t last long. Half the order is already gone!

Open normal business hours all weekend even on Easter if you want to fish after dinner! 430am-10pm… We’re loaded up on bait.

4/18 Thursday

Good fishing again. Maybe not as good as Tuesday but we had a bunch reports come in during the evening again. The difference Wednesday was I did hear of more bass on bait but Kettlecreek shads and Bucktails are still top choices. We got in mess of Fresh Shell Clams, Fresh Bunker, and Beautiful Blood Worms Wednesday.

We now carry Aquaskinz Gear! Bags, Belts, Leader bags, Finger Guards and more! We’re happy to finally have the Aquaskinz brand in the shop. Come check them out..

4/17 Wednesday– Another good day on the surf..

The reports were coming in Tuesday from the surf. We heard of some pretty darn good fishing Tuesday evening. Guys fishing artificials were doing the best. Kettle Creek shads and Bucktails were the most productive. Even had a few guys report double headers using teaser rigs. Most of the bass are in the 18-24″ range but we had one of our local guys release 2 keeper size bass off the surf. Nice to see all the smaller bass in the area. Lets hope this is the start of a decent spring run. Weather looks very good for Wednesday.

Huge Shimano order arrived Tuesday. Bluewave plug bags, Coltsniper plugs, Saragosa, Stradic, and TranX Reels were in the order. We also received more Frogg Togg waders. All sizes available!

COMING SOON! Frogg Togg Stout boot foot waders for the big boys! We’ll announce when they arrive.

Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

4/16 Tuesday

Not a lot of guys fishing Monday with the heavy west winds we had. Tuesday looks like a better day. WNW winds 10-20 and gradually dropping. Like I said in yesterdays report we had good action in both the surf and bay Sunday. If you plan on fishing artificials in the surf try bucktails, metal/teasers, SP’s, or Kettlecreek shads. There’s been a decent amount of bass out front. In the bay we’ve had some really good fishing since the bay opened on March 1st. It started in the Toms River and has spread throughout the bay now. There’s been a lot of Adult Bunker and Spearing in the bay and the bass have been harassing them pretty much every night. Kettlecreek Shads, SP’s, Gliders, and even poppers have been producing in the bay. Now’s the time to put your time in.

We put in a HUGE order of Gulp and the NEW Berkely Fusion Fluke Bucktails on Monday as we get ready for the upcoming Fluke Season!  These bucktails are designed to hold the Gulp perfectly.. Pay attention in the coming weeks for an awesome Gulp/Fusion bucktail promotion.  Don’t forget this Saturday from 10am-1pm we’ll be having the 2nd annual ODM/Grumpys Rod Demo day at the park in front of the shop. Come cast some of the best Surf Rods on the market.. The full-line of surf rods will be there for you to cast. No need to sign-up just show up!

SIDE NOTE— MORE SCABELLY MINI-GLIDERS COMING END OF THIS WEEK! Soon as we post them you better get to the shop quick. It’s the hottest lure on the market right now and they do not last! No phone orders please! Pay attention to our social media pages.

Open 430am-10pm DAILY!

4/15 Monday–More Surf Bass!

Lots of reports came in Sunday from the beach. Lots of small bass up and down IBSP and most of what we heard was on artificials. Bucktails with a Greenhead or otter tail was the ticket. Kevin Lorenze had over a dozen Bass on Bucktails and some were nice size. We also heard of other Bass on bait but artificials are getting the most attention right now. Back bay is also producing a lot of smaller bass as well. Good life in the area. Weather is gonna clear this afternoon and it should be a good night. We have plenty of Fresh Bunker and Fresh Clams.

4/14 Sunday–1st Surf Bass weigh-in!

We had our 1st surf bass weighed in from IBSP Saturday. Frank and Amber weighed in a 32″ 13.75LB Bass. The fish hit a bucktail! They also reported 2 other bass on artificials. Try using a teaser above your lures if you hit the surf. Heard of several bass on teasers. We also had a pick of bass on bait.  Things are picking up and the water temps are slowly warming. The weather for Sunday look pretty good! Our good customer Anthony Decaro caught and released a 29″ Bass in the bay (locally) Saturday night on a Glider.  Back bay still has a lot of life and the bait is really starting stack up back here.. We have plenty of Fresh Bunker and Fresh Shell Clams! Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

4/13 Saturday– Good back bay fishing locally.

We had some really good fishing in the back bay Friday. All locally. Our Virginia customer Jack got them really good Friday evening on kettle creek shads. Even had a couple keeper size fish that they released. They also reported a ton of bunker in the back. Off the Surf we had a few fish reported during the early afternoon hours on Clams. All the fish on the beach have been very small but it’s a start! Saturdays weather will get nicer as the day goes on. Maybe some showers in the morning but it doesn’t look like a washout by any means. We got in another Fresh Delivery of bait Friday. Fresh Bunker, Fresh Shell Clams, and Live Bloodworms.

We now carry Kid’s T-Shirts! Sizes Small to Large. We also got replenished on our standard Grumpy Adult T- Shirt.

OPEN 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!

4/12 Friday

Not a ton of anglers out surf Thursday. Had a couple guys come in during the evening and report a few small bass on the beach using bait. More small bass were reported in the bay on worms and small plugs. We got in a mess of Fresh Clams Thursday. We also have Bloodworms and Fresh Bunker.

Thursday 4/11 More Surf Bass reported..

We had more bass reported from off the surf Wednesday. One of our nighttime regulars came in right before closing and told us he had small bass on plugs. Most of them were under 20″ but it was fun on light tackle. If you just want to throw some bait out there Clams has been the bait. Also heard more from the back bay. Good fishing was reported on small plugs once again. We also heard of more Bunker popping in the bay especially in the night time hours. We had some kids snagging them last night off the docks. Nothing was in them but it’s just a matter of time now.

Open 430am-10pm EVERYDAY!
